CM Rekha plants saplings in Model Town

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday participated in a plantation drive in the Model Town Assembly constituency as part of the Green Delhi Sankalp and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaigns. During the campaign, around 1,100 saplings were planted across the area along central verges, beneath Metro corridors, and on both sides of roads, as the Delhi Government pushes toward its target of planting 70 lakh saplings across the Capital.
Local MLA Ashok Goel, residents, RWA representatives, and other citizens attended the drive.
The Chief Minister said large-scale plantation drives are being carried out continuously across Delhi and urged citizens to join the campaign. She noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah formally launched the Mega Plantation Drive on July 7, following which the Delhi Government launched a dedicated portal at greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in to facilitate public participation. Through the portal, citizens can join the plantation campaign by selecting a date, time, and location of their choice and booking a slot. The Delhi Government will deliver free saplings to citizens’ homes through the Vriksh Rath initiative.
Citizens can also use the Nursery Locator feature on the portal to find their nearest Government nursery and collect a free sapling directly. The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government is committed to converting every vacant and suitable space in the Capital into green areas.
