Air India Flight Suffers Tail Strike During Landing at Bengaluru Airport

An Air India flight operating from Delhi to Bengaluru experienced a tail-strike incident while landing at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew members disembarked without any injuries. The aircraft involved was an Airbus A321 operating as flight AI2651.
According to initial reports, the incident may have occurred during a precautionary go-around manoeuvre triggered by wake turbulence caused by another aircraft operating nearby.
Wake turbulence refers to disturbed air created by larger aircraft, which can affect the stability of planes approaching or departing from the runway.
Air India stated that the aircraft has been grounded for a detailed inspection and the matter will be investigated in coordination with aviation authorities.
The return flight from Bengaluru to Delhi, AI2652, was also cancelled due to the grounding of the aircraft, and alternative travel arrangements are being made for affected passengers.
A tail strike occurs when the rear section of an aircraft makes contact with the runway during takeoff or landing.
While such incidents can potentially cause structural damage, safety procedures require detailed technical assessments before the aircraft returns to service.
