Four UNLF(P) Militants Arrested in Manipur; Large Cache of Weapons Seized

Security forces in Manipur arrested four cadres linked to the proscribed militant outfit UNLF(P) and recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition during a major joint operation.

The action was carried out by Manipur Police along with personnel from the Assam Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following intelligence inputs regarding illegal arms-related activities.

According to officials, the operation was conducted in the Lamshang area of Imphal West district.

During the raids, security forces reportedly recovered more than 60 weapons and military-grade equipment. The seized items included AK-series rifles, M-series rifles, a sniper rifle, a carbine, an RPG launcher, anti-drone jammers, explosives, and ammunition.

Police officials stated that the arrests were made after intelligence suggested attempts to sell looted arms and ammunition.

Reports also indicated that associates of the arrested individuals allegedly opened fire on security personnel during the operation, leading to an exchange of fire before additional suspects were apprehended.

Authorities described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms movement and restore law and order in Manipur, which has witnessed security challenges and the circulation of looted weapons in recent years. Investigations are continuing to determine possible links and wider networks involved in the activities.
