5 killed after speeding Hayabusa bike crashes into car in Telangana

5 people were killed after a speeding Suzuki Hayabusa bike allegedly lost control and rammed into a car during a late-night racing incident in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district on Sunday.

The accident took place on the Palakonda bypass road, which locals say has become a hotspot for illegal bike racing and dangerous stunts during the night hours.

According to preliminary reports, two youngsters riding the superbike were travelling at nearly 140 kmph when they lost control and crashed into a car carrying a family. The impact of the collision was so severe that three members of the family died on the spot.

The deceased from the car were identified as Arshiya Begum (30), Ujepa (7), and two-year-old Amar.

The two men riding the bike were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors later declared them dead. One of them was identified as Yakub Afzal (25), while the identity of the other victim is yet to be confirmed. Police are still investigating who was riding the motorcycle at the time of the crash.

The Hayabusa, known globally for its high-speed performance, was among the first production motorcycles to cross the 300 kmph mark and was once regarded as the fastest bike in the world.

Following the accident, angry residents blamed frequent illegal racing activities on the bypass road and accused authorities of failing to act despite repeated complaints.

“Every night, youngsters race on the bypass with loud sports bikes. They drive recklessly and endanger innocent people. We complained many times, but no strict action was taken,” locals alleged.

Residents have demanded immediate police intervention to curb illegal racing and rash driving on highways. They have also urged authorities to increase night patrols, install CCTV cameras, deploy speed guns and conduct special enforcement drives against racing gangs.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
