2 LPG carrier vessels cross Strait Of Hormuz, expected at Kandla Port on May 16

The Shipping Ministry said that 2 LPG carrier vessels have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are expected to reach India’s Kandla Port on May 16, marking another key development in the steady flow of energy shipments amid ongoing tensions in the West Asia region.

According to the ministry, both vessels carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have safely navigated the strategically sensitive maritime chokepoint and are now en route to India.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global shipping route for oil and gas, and has witnessed disruptions due to the ongoing geopolitical conflict in the region. Despite these challenges, multiple India-bound energy shipments have continued to transit the waterway in recent weeks.

The latest movement adds to a series of LPG carriers that have successfully crossed the strait, ensuring continued supply of cooking gas and energy imports for India. Officials have been closely monitoring maritime traffic to safeguard energy security and shipping routes.

Kandla Port in Gujarat is one of India’s key import terminals for petroleum and LPG cargo, handling large volumes of energy supplies arriving from West Asia.

The development comes amid broader concerns over global energy prices and supply chain stability, as the Middle East crisis continues to impact shipping lanes and fuel markets worldwide.
