Truck collides with tempo in Sambhal, six killed

Six people, including two children, were killed and several others injured after a truck collided with a tempo in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district on Sunday morning, September 6, police said.

The accident took place near Bamnetta village on the Moradabad-Agra National Highway, they said.

Sambhal Superintendent of Police Vikas Chandra Tripathi said the tempo was travelling on the Bahjoi-Chandausi road when the collision occurred.

"Police immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. We received information from the hospital about the deaths of four people. The matter is being examined, and legal action will be taken based on the findings," Tripathi told PTI.

The deceased, all of whom were travelling in the tempo, were identified as Ruvaid, 30, Sarvadhya, four months, Dhruv, 6, tempo driver Saudaon Singh, 40, and Rohni, 20, police said.

Another passenger, identified as Rampal, later succumbed to his injuries, Circle Officer (Bahjoi) Stuti Singh said.

The bodies were being dealt with as per procedure, while police were examining the circumstances leading to the accident and would take legal action based on their findings, officials said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

He directed officials to ensure proper treatment of those injured and provide all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.
