Six bodies recovered from Bhutnal Lake in Vijayapura

Six bodies, including those of two boys, were found floating in Bhutnal Lake in Vijayapura on Wednesday, police said.

The bodies were of four women and two boys. Their identities were not immediately known.

Police are trying to find out what led to the deaths. They are looking at different possibilities, including accidental drowning and suicide.

"There is a suspicion that they may have slipped and fallen into the lake while coming to see it," police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Nagaraj, Adarsh Nagar police station PSI Sitaram and other police personnel reached the lake after the bodies were found.

Police are also checking missing persons complaints to see if any family had reported several members missing recently.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The reports are expected to provide more clues about the cause of death.

Police said the investigation is underway.
