Sequels, spies, and the return of the OGs

As we step into 2026, the Indian entertainment landscape is preparing for its most explosive year yet. With 2025 ending on a high note thanks to the ‘Dhurandhar’ rampage, the industry is shifting from recovery to full-scale cinematic warfare. From long-awaited reunions to ‘Wig-gates’ in the thriller genre, here is your definitive guide to the 2026 entertainment calendar.
The ‘Tip Tip’ Reunion & The OGs
Comedy legends Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal reunite for the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, promising high-voltage laughter. Meanwhile, the iconic ‘Tip Tip’ duo of Akshay and Raveena Tandon returns in Welcome To The Jungle. Trading yellow sarees for tactical gear, they lead a massive 34-actor ensemble for a blockbuster release. Nostalgia has never looked this big!
The Trios and Fresh Pairs:
2026 belongs to Ranbir Kapoor, who is pulling double duty in two of the year’s biggest spectacles:
Love & War :
Sanjay LeelaBhansali brings together the trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. It’s a period war-romance that fans have been begging for since it was announced.
Ramayana: Part 1 : This is the cultural event of the year. Ranbir as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita is the ‘fresh pair’ the country is waiting for. With Yash playing Ravana, this project is set to be the most ambitious Indian film ever made.
The Drishyam 3 ‘Wig-Gate’ & The 2nd October Meme
Drishyam 3 is aiming for its signature 2 October release, but the real mystery happened off-screen. Akshaye Khanna, a highlight of the second instalment, has stepped down after a public fallout. The ‘wig drama’ reportedly began after Dhurandhar’s success, when Akshaye insisted on wearing a wig. Director Abhishek Pathak refused, saying it would break continuity. The makers have now brought in Jaideep Ahlawat. And yes, the meme survives: “Yaad hai na… 2 October ko....?”
The Spy & The Soldier:
The ‘Dhurandhar’ fever is not cooling down. While the first part continues to dominate global box office discussions after its massive record-breaking haul, the wait for the next chapter is short. Ranveer Singh’s transition into the serious espionage world as the undercover spy Hamza has redefined his career, and the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, promises a darker, more international scale.
Meanwhile, nostalgia is hitting the trenches with Border 2. Sunny Deol returns to lead a powerhouse new battalion including Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in this high-octane war epic. Word is that Sunny Deol’s iconic ‘Dhai Kilo Ka Haath’ is still the heaviest thing on set — rumour has it even the heavy-duty tanks look a bit nervous when he walks by!
