Security forces engage terrorists in Kishtwar’s forest areas

The bravehearts of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) are hotly chasing multiple groups of terrorists hiding inside the thickly forested area of the Kishtwar district to neutralise them.
The ongoing operation Trashi-1 has seen heightened activity, with security forces establishing contact with the terrorists on at least four occasions since January 18, 2026. The last contact with terrorists was re-established in the early hours of January 31 in the general area of Dolgam.
The same day, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma assessed the operational preparedness of the counter terrorism grid in Kishtwar and directed the troops to flush out the terrorists from inside their safe hideouts.
Teams belonging to the special operations group of the Jammu and Kashmir police and central paramilitary forces are also maintaining a tight vigil in the outer cordon to prevent these battle-hardened terrorists from escaping the tight cordon.
As searches continue in the harshest weather conditions, no fresh exchange of fire has been reported in the area.
On Monday, the GOC White Knight Corps, accompanied by GOC CIF (Delta), visited the general area of Kishtwar to review the counter-terrorism grid and assess the operational preparedness of units deployed in the region.
He was briefed on the current security situation, with a focus on strengthening the security framework and improving coordination among all stakeholders.
“The GOC commended the Delta Force for their steadfast resolve, high morale, and unwavering commitment to peace and stability. The GOC urged all ranks to remain vigilant, agile, and mission-ready at all times”, the White Knight corps said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, two persons moving suspiciously were detained on Monday as security forces intensified their anti-terror operations across the Jammu region.
Official sources claimed two suspicious persons were caught by the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the army near their camp in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district around 10.30 am and later handed over to local police for questioning.
Security forces also observed suspicious movement in the Joffer area of Ramnagar sector late Sunday night and immediately launched a search operation covering Joffer, Marta, Kulthian, Sohan, Kheal, and Chour Mottu along the Ujh river, the officials said, adding no suspicious persons was found during the operation.
The officials said movement of suspected terrorists was also reported in Udhampur district and Kalas top in Rajouri district and accordingly, an operation is underway at both places.
The search and cordon operations are also going on at dozens of other high altitude areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda and Reasi districts as part of the efforts to hunt down terrorists hiding in the upper reaches, they said.
