ACB traps Telangana SI, constable over Rs 75,000 bribe

An Sub-Inspector of police and a constable attached to the Chanda Nagar police station in Hyderabad were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000, officials said.
According to an ACB release, the two were apprehended on Saturday after the SI allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant in exchange for assistance with a case investigation and the filing of a charge sheet. The bribe amount was recovered from a drawer in the SI's office table, the release said.
The ACB further stated that the SI had earlier accepted Rs 20,000 in cash on a separate occasion, while the constable had received Rs 10,000 through online payments. The bureau said the two accused allegedly acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their official duties to secure undue advantage.
Both officials will be arrested and produced before a court for judicial remand, the ACB said, adding that the case remains under investigation.
