Delhi police recover 161 stolen two-wheelers, arrest 109 in Rohini crime drive

During a four-day crackdown carried out in Rohini, Delhi Police managed to recover 161 stolen two-wheelers and either arrested or apprehended 109 individuals, among them 24 history-sheeters, officials said on Sunday.
Running from August 18 to 21, the operation involved checking and verifying more than 5,000 vehicles throughout the district. Among the recovered vehicles were 116 motorcycles and 45 scooters, officials noted.
The crackdown also led to the seizure of seven unlicensed firearms including a Taurus pistol made in Brazil, six locally-made pistols and 15 live cartridges, besides nine knives.
Police further took into custody seven individuals declared proclaimed offenders and seven people suspected of cyber fraud.
A fraudulent call centre operating in the Begumpur area was raided, resulting in six arrests. According to police, probes into the cyber fraud cases have connected 26 complaints involving fraud totalling roughly Rs 78 lakh.
Under an NDPS case, two suspected drug suppliers were taken into custody and 686 grams of heroin were seized. Police said five arrests have been made in this case overall, with total recoveries amounting to 1.764 kg of heroin, Rs 1.55 lakh in cash, and a vehicle allegedly used for transporting the contraband.
The operation additionally saw 13 alleged bootleggers arrested, with illicit liquor and a car confiscated, while 21 individuals were held across 11 separate gambling cases.
The exercise was executed by 16 teams made up of 277 personnel across Delhi's Rohini district. (with inputs from PTI)
