Salman Khan sends Legal Notice to Kala Hiran makers over personality rights violation claim

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has issued a legal notice against the makers of the upcoming film Kala Hiran, accusing them of violating his personality rights and seeking an immediate stop to the film’s release and promotional activities. The notice has been sent to casting director Akshay Pandey, alleging that the project is based on the actor’s involvement in the 1998 black buck poaching case.
According to the legal notice, Salman Khan has neither authorised nor consented to the use of his name, image, or any depiction related to the incident in the film. His legal team has stated that the portrayal is defamatory in nature and may interfere with ongoing judicial proceedings in the matter, which is currently pending before the Rajasthan High Court. The notice further claims that the film infringes upon his fundamental right to a fair trial.
In response, the makers of Kala Hiran, directed by Bharat S Shrinate and produced by Amit Jani, have rejected the allegations and claimed that the legal notice is an attempt to intimidate the production team. They recently released the film’s first-look poster and have announced plans to launch the teaser on June 20. The makers maintain that the film is inspired by real-life legal and courtroom events.
The controversy has once again drawn attention to the long-standing 1998 black buck poaching case involving Salman Khan, which has witnessed multiple court rulings, including conviction, appeals, and bail over the years, and continues to remain under judicial consideration.
