3 dead, 10 hurt as bus of Nepali 'kanwariyas' rams truck in Jharkhand

At least three "kanwariyas" from Nepal, including a 10-year-old boy were killed and 10 others injured when a bus carrying the pilgrims rammed into a stationary truck in Jharkhand's Koderma district on Friday, Aug 14, the police reported.

The accident took place at Pokhradih in Satgawan police station area around 4: 30 a.m., an officer said. "At least three kanwariyas were killed and 10 others were injured in the accident. The injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital," said Satgawan police station in-charge Bablu Kumar.

He said the bus was carrying 45 pilgrims from Nepal's Rautahat district and was returning to the Himalayan country after the devotees offered prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar district and visited Basukinath Dham in Dumka.

Kumar also told the bus was on its way to Bihar's Rajgir, en route to Nepal when the driver dozed off at the wheel and hit the stationary truck from behind.
