Ratlam trader robbery case: Six arrested, gold and silver jewellery valued at Rs 5.41 cr recovered

Six men were arrested on Sunday, and gold and silver jewellery valued at around Rs 5.41 crore was recovered three days after a bullion trader was robbed in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh, police said, adding that two other accused remained absconding.
A trader, identified as Arpit Choradia, was travelling from Badnagar to Ratlam by bus on Thursday night when some men allegedly assaulted him near Hanuman Chowki at Umarathana intersection under Bilpank police station area and fled with a bag containing gold and silver jewellery, according to police.
Police recovered 4.167 kg of gold jewellery and 4.047 kg of silver jewellery.
Addressing a press conference, Ujjain Zone Inspector General of Police Rakesh Gupta said on Sunday evening that the case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and special teams were formed under the direction of Deputy IG Nimish Agrawal and Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar.
Investigators examined footage from more than 300 CCTV cameras between the crime scene and Badnagar and used electronic surveillance, Gupta said.
Based on digital inputs, police learnt that the accused were hiding in the Himmatgarh hill area. Six suspects were detained and allegedly confessed to the crime during questioning, police said.
The recovered gold jewellery comprised 238 pieces weighing 4.167 kg and valued at around Rs 5.32 crore. The silver ornaments comprised 183 pieces weighing 4.047 kg and valued at around Rs 9 lakh, police said.
The arrested accused were identified as Rahul Gurjar, Abhijeet alias Abhay Gurjar (22), Rahul alias Veer Gurjar (25), Ravi alias Babla Gurjar (27) and Mohammad Umar alias Pappu (42) -all locals of Ratlam. The sixth one, Yashwant Gurjar (28), hails from Mandsaur district of the state, police said.
Two other accused, Rohit Nayak of Ratlam and Gaurav Gurjar of Indore, were at large, and a search is underway to arrest them.
