Rare historical treasures exhibitions at PMML

The Prime Minister’s Museum and Library (PMML) inaugurated “The Archives of PMML”, an exhibition featuring rare and significant documents that capture defining moments in India’s history. The event was presided over by PMML Chairman Nripendra Misra in the presence of PMML Director Ashwani Lohani.
For the first time, PMML is presenting a curated selection from its vast archival collection, considered one of the most comprehensive in the country, with over 25 million documents spanning more than 1,300 collections.
Among the highlights are Mahatma Gandhi’s 1932 letter on spiritual unity, Jawaharlal Nehru’s handwritten draft of the historic “Tryst with Destiny” speech, and correspondence from Atal Bihari Vajpayee during the Emergency period.
According to a PMML Press release, the exhibition also features a notable letter from former Prime Minister late Manmohan Singh to social activist Anna Hazare, offering visitors a rare insight into modern political discourse.
Together, these documents provide a compelling narrative of India’s political, social and intellectual evolution across decades.
Open to the public from April 1 to 14 at Teen Murti Bhawan, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to engage with the voices and events that shaped the nation. Visitors can explore the archives daily between 10 am and 5 pm at the PMML Back Foyer, underscoring the institution’s effort to make history more accessible and engaging.
