Uno Minda Ltd announces projects worth Rs 1,415 crore

Uno Minda Limited, a leading automotive components and systems manufacturer, has announced four capacity expansion and consolidation projects worth a combined Rs 1,415 crore, aimed at strengthening its manufacturing base and meeting rising demand from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
The largest of the four is a greenfield aluminium casting facility on Thally Road in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, entailing an additional capex of Rs 510 crore. The company’s existing Hosur plant, which supplies casting parts for two-wheelers, four-wheelers and commercial vehicles across both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) platforms, has reached its expansion limits amid strong demand from South Indian OEMs.
The new plant will raise aluminium casting capacity at the location from about 13,000 MT to 34,000 MT at peak, and will be rolled out in phases over three years. Phase 1 production is expected by the fourth quarter of FY28, with existing Hosur operations fully relocated by the first quarter of FY29. The facility will also produce around 1 million high-pressure die-cast two-wheeler alloy wheels annually alongside structural and EV/powertrain components.
The second project involves setting up a 3.3-million-unit two-wheeler alloy wheel plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, at an additional capex of Rs 155 crore. This includes relocating 2 million units of existing capacity from Supa, Maharashtra, to align production with shifting demand and strengthen the company’s presence in North India. Phase 1 is expected to begin production by Q4FY28.
Third, the company will expand its moulding facility in Bangalore, operated through subsidiary Uno Minda Kyoraku Limited, with an estimated capex of Rs 80 crore. Operations are slated to begin by the first quarter of FY28.
The fourth project is a new plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, under the company’s joint venture Toyoda Gosei South India Private Limited, to manufacture interior and exterior parts, airbags, hoses and body sealing systems.
Managing Director Ravi Mehra said the projects reflect the company’s approach of investing on the back of firm demand visibility while staying close to customers. Group CFO Sunil Bohra said the expansions, particularly in aluminium casting, address surging OEM demand for lightweighting components driven by the EV and advanced powertrain segments, and are structured for long-term value creation for stakeholders.
