Rajkot traders robbed of Rs 25 crore in Patna

In a shocking incident, employees of a well-known Rajkot-based jewellery firm, KV and Sons, were robbed of gold worth approximately Rs 25 crore in Patna by a gang posing as customs officials.
According to reports, two employees, Mahesh Mamtora and Prince Ranpariya, had travelled from Rajkot to deliver a consignment of gold jewellery. Upon arriving at Danapur railway station in Patna, they were intercepted by around eight individuals arriving in cars and motorcycles. The accused allegedly identified themselves as officials from the customs department and demanded to verify invoices and documents related to the gold consignment. Under the pretext of inspection, the gang forcibly took the employees into a vehicle and abducted them to a secluded location.
There, the victims were threatened and relieved of approximately 17 kilograms of gold jewellery. After executing the robbery, the assailants abandoned the employees on the roadside and fled the scene.
Following the incident, the victims informed their employer, who then lodged a complaint with the Bihar Police. Authorities in Patna have formed a special investigation team to probe the case. Preliminary findings suggest that the robbery was premeditated, possibly involving insider information about the employees’ movement and the high-value consignment.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the bullion trading community in Rajkot and beyond, raising concerns over the safety of high-value transport across States.
