Punjab Police bust high tech exam cheating racket, 35 detained in Pharmacist Recruitment Test
Punjab Police have dismantled a sophisticated cheating racket during the Pharmacist Officer recruitment examination conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS). In a joint operation involving the Faridkot and Ferozepur police ranges along with the state's Counter Intelligence wing, authorities detained 35 people, including 28 candidates and seven alleged masterminds, for using advanced electronic gadgets to cheat in the examination.
According to investigators, the accused relied on miniature Bluetooth devices, pen cameras, hidden earpieces and other spy-like equipment concealed inside turbans, socks and clothing to receive answers during the exam. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs, leading to raids at multiple examination centres.
Police recovered several electronic devices and arrested members of the interstate network believed to have facilitated the cheating operation.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the crackdown exposed a well-organised network using sophisticated technology to manipulate government recruitment examinations. Authorities have registered criminal cases and launched further investigations to identify additional suspects and determine whether the racket was linked to similar examination frauds in other states.
