PM Modi meets Vietnam President To Lam in Delhi for strategic partnership India Vietnam relations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Vietnam President To Lam at Hyderabad House in New Delhi marking a key moment in the visiting leader’s first State Visit to India.
Earlier in the day, To Lam was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was received by President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi. The event highlighted the strengthening ties between India and Vietnam, with a cultural reception featuring children waving both nations’ flags.
The Vietnamese President began his India visit on Tuesday with a visit to Bodh Gaya, where he offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple. He was welcomed in Bihar by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary before arriving in Delhi, where he was received by Union Minister Nityanand Rai.
During the visit, PM Modi and President To Lam are expected to hold wide-ranging discussions covering bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and global issues. President Murmu will also hold separate talks with the visiting leader, along with other high-level engagements.
Ahead of the meeting, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held discussions with To Lam, focusing on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit comes at a significant time as India and Vietnam mark ten years of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Vietnamese leader is scheduled to stay in India until May 7 and will also visit Mumbai to attend a business forum and engage with industry leaders.
India and Vietnam share deep historical and civilisational ties, which have evolved into a strong strategic and economic partnership in recent years.
