Peru embassy marks 205th Independence Day

The Embassy of Peru in India commemorated the 205th anniversary of Peru’s independence on June 23, highlighting growing bilateral ties.
Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, attended as the guest of honour. The embassy stated his presence demonstrated the Indian Government’s high regard for its bonds of friendship and cooperation with Peru. Ambassador of Peru to India Javier Paulinich felicitated Minister Pabitra Margherita on the occasion.
The ceremony drew over 400 guests, including senior Government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and the Peruvian community. Attendees sampled Peru’s signature cocktail, the pisco sour, alongside an exquisite buffet curated by Peruvian chef Julio Castillo.
A unique artistic programme showcasing cultural complementarity between the two nations featured Ananga Manjari, a Peru-born Bharatanatyam dancer, and musician Ricardo Delgado. Their innovative performance fused Peruvian and Indian traditions.
Additionally, the event inaugurated the fifth edition of the “Taste of Peru in Delhi” gastronomic festival, which concluded on June 28. The embassy emphasised that Peruvian cuisine is gaining significant recognition in India, serving as a vital instrument of cultural diplomacy to strengthen the friendship between both nations.
