PM Modi marks 12 years in office, highlights welfare schemes and poverty alleviation as core govt focus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has marked 12 years in office, highlighting his government’s focus on welfare schemes and inclusive development, with special emphasis on the upliftment of the poor and marginalised sections of society.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said India has witnessed “remarkable change” over the past 12 years, adding that the government’s efforts have been guided by the principle of Antyodaya—ensuring that the benefits of development reach those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder.
He said major initiatives such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Ayushman Bharat have been central to improving dignity, opportunity, and quality of life for citizens.
Modi also highlighted the role of technology in governance, stating that digital systems and DBT have helped reduce leakages, improve efficiency, and ensure transparent delivery of welfare benefits directly to beneficiaries.
He added that the journey of “Garib Kalyan” has evolved into a broader movement aimed at human empowerment and the vision of a developed India, or “Viksit Bharat.”
Meanwhile, BJP and NDA leaders also marked the occasion, describing the last 12 years as being dedicated to pro-poor governance under the banner of “Garib Kalyan.” A government publication stated that poverty alleviation and welfare delivery have remained the central objective of policy decisions during this period.
The report further claimed that various welfare schemes, including the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, have significantly improved living standards in rural and underprivileged communities, citing global assessments that indicate a decline in poverty levels in India.
