PM Modi launches 'Nasha Mukt Yuva' campaign, calls for drug-free youth to build Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', urging young people to stay away from substance abuse and remain physically and mentally fit to help build a developed India.

Launching the campaign virtually, Modi said the fight against substance abuse was not limited to the youth but involved their families, society and the country as a whole.

The campaign seeks to encourage young people to stay away from drugs and emerge as ambassadors of positive social change in their communities.

The launch marks the beginning of a 100-week nationwide 'Jan Bhagidari' campaign, with activities to be organised every Sunday across the country to raise awareness about substance abuse and encourage public participation in building a drug-free society.

"To achieve the target of a developed India, our youth must remain mentally and physically fit, for which they must stay away from all kinds of substance abuse," Modi said.

The campaign will feature sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, street plays, discussion forums, art competitions and community engagement activities.

A large number of young people, who described themselves as representatives of Gen-Z, attended the virtual launch.

Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched in 2020 in line with Modi's vision of creating a drug-free India.
