AAP protests in Delhi, seeks FIR against PWD Minister over slapping incident

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday staged a protest in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar, demanding registration of an FIR against Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh over an alleged slapping incident.

AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj was detained by Delhi Police during the protest.

“We are going to the DCP office because the FIR has not been registered yet. When everything happened in front of the SHO and everything is on video, why has the FIR not been registered? This is complete collusion by the police. This hooliganism will not be tolerated,” Bharadwaj told reporters.

Several AAP workers, along with local MLA Jarnail Singh, raised slogans seeking the resignation of the PWD minister and demanding an FIR against him.

“To maintain law and order, some people have been detained and were removed to Jaffarpur Kalan Police Station,” a police source said.

A political controversy broke out in Delhi on Sunday after a video surfaced on social media purportedly showing Parvesh Sahib Singh slapping a man who was recording a road inspection in Tilak Nagar.

The video was shared on social media by Jarnail Singh. The incident took place while the minister was inspecting a newly laid road in the area.

During the inspection, Jarnail Singh questioned the quality of the road work and pulled out portions of the road surface with his hand. A man standing nearby and recording the proceedings was then allegedly slapped by the minister.  (with inputs from PTI)
