Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir arrive in Switzerland for US-Iran technical talks

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir have arrived in Switzerland to participate in technical-level discussions linked to the ongoing US-Iran peace process. The talks, being held in Bürgenstock, are aimed at working out the details of a preliminary agreement reached between Washington and Tehran following months of regional tensions and conflict.
According to Pakistan's Prime Minister's Office, Sharif is leading a high-level delegation and will join representatives from the United States, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan in discussions focused on implementing key provisions of the accord. The meeting follows the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which laid the groundwork for a broader peace framework between the two countries.
The negotiations are expected to address critical issues including Iran's nuclear programme, sanctions relief, oil exports, maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and efforts to sustain a ceasefire in Lebanon. Pakistan and Qatar have been playing important mediating roles throughout the diplomatic process.

Sharif and Munir's participation highlights Pakistan's growing diplomatic involvement in efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East. Officials hope the technical discussions will help transform the preliminary agreement into a more comprehensive and lasting settlement, contributing to regional stability and global energy security.
