6 arrested with illegal weapons for alleged revenge attack over Jamia clash

Nuh police have arrested six youths with illegal weapons who were allegedly planning to travel to Delhi to avenge an assault linked to a clash at Jamia Millia Islamia, officials said on Thursday.
An FIR has been registered against the accused at Nuh Sadar police station.
According to police, the six had gathered in Salamba village to plan an attack after one of them, Bilal, was allegedly assaulted during a clash at Jamia earlier this week.
Police said they recovered a country-made 'Pauna' gun, a country-made pistol and sticks from the accused.
A Nuh police spokesperson said the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team received information that a group of youths involved in the Jamia dispute was allegedly preparing to carry out a major crime and travel to Delhi.
"Acting swiftly, the team arrested all six accused. A case has been registered against them at the Nuh Sadar Police Station, and further investigation is underway," the spokesperson said.
The arrested accused were identified as Subedin and Firoz, residents of Salaheri village; Bilal and Sahil, residents of Nuh town; and Naseem and Parvez, residents of Saunkh village in Nuh district, police said. (with inputs from PTI)
