Netanyahu cites India’s support while countering US Vice President JD Vance’s remarks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has referred to India as one of Israel’s strong international supporters, countering remarks made by US Vice President JD Vance suggesting that the United States remains Israel’s only powerful ally.
Netanyahu said Israel enjoys backing from multiple countries, including what he described as “a small country called India,” highlighting its population strength and growing diplomatic support.
“We have some other friends, like a small country called India, you know, it has 1.4 billion people and, boy, do we have tremendous support there,” Netanyahu said, adding that he has also seen widespread support for Israel from Indian users on social media platforms.
His comments came after JD Vance had remarked that Israel should be cautious in its approach to US-Iran negotiations, while also suggesting that the United States remained Israel’s only major powerful ally in the current global landscape.
Responding indirectly to that claim, Netanyahu said Israel maintains strong relations with several countries and continues to receive cooperation and goodwill from global partners. He also pointed to Israel’s growing partnerships in technology, cybersecurity, and defence sectors as evidence of its expanding international ties.
The Israeli leader further stated that multiple world leaders regularly engage with Israel for expertise in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. He claimed that Israel is currently one of the leading global powers in cyber technology and that its strategic relationships often extend beyond traditional diplomatic perceptions.
Netanyahu’s remarks underline Israel’s effort to project a broader base of international support amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and shifting global alliances, particularly as debates continue over US involvement in Middle East diplomacy.
