NEET UG Re-Exam 2026: paper setters placed under strict lockdown until June 21 for security

In a major security step ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, authorities have placed question paper setters, moderators, and translators under strict lockdown at a secure undisclosed location.
According to officials, the unprecedented move is aimed at preventing any possibility of paper leaks and ensuring the integrity of the examination process following previous controversies that led to the cancellation of the earlier test.
The personnel involved in setting and finalising the question paper have been completely isolated from external communication. Mobile phones, laptops, smart devices, and internet access have been strictly prohibited, and movement in and out of the facility is being tightly monitored.
The lockdown will remain in place until the completion of the examination on June 21. Officials said this is part of a multi-layered security framework covering every stage of the exam process—from question paper preparation and translation to printing, transport, and distribution.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced enhanced safeguards after allegations of irregularities in the original NEET UG 2026 exam, which affected over 22 lakh candidates and triggered a nationwide re-test.
Authorities also said that additional measures, including digital encryption of question papers and stricter surveillance during transport, have been implemented to strengthen confidentiality and prevent misinformation or fraud attempts.
Meanwhile, the NTA has warned against fake claims circulating on social media regarding paper leaks, calling them “false and fraudulent,” and cautioned that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading misinformation.
The NEET UG 2026 re-exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 21 in pen-and-paper mode across designated centres nationwide.
