NEET UG Paper Leak Case: Doctor from Latur and Pune Physics teacher arrested by CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Latur-based doctor and a physics teacher from a Pune coaching institute in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case, officials said.
With these arrests, the total number of accused taken into custody in the case has risen to 13, as the agency continues to trace the wider conspiracy behind the leak.
According to officials, Manoj Shirure, a doctor from Latur, was arrested for allegedly playing a key role in helping students gain access to leaked chemistry questions sourced from a NEET paper setter. The investigation also linked him to a coaching network operating in Maharashtra.
The CBI also arrested Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, a physics teacher at a Pune-based medical coaching academy, for allegedly receiving leaked physics questions through another accused already under investigation.
Officials said Shah reportedly obtained the questions from an arrested intermediary, further expanding the chain of communication between paper setters, middlemen, and coaching institutes.
The agency stated that searches have been conducted at dozens of locations across the country, with laptops, mobile phones, and documents seized as part of the ongoing probe.
“The investigation to unearth the full conspiracy is still underway,” a CBI spokesperson said, adding that multiple teams are working to identify all individuals involved in the network.
The NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted for medical admissions, had earlier been cancelled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) amid allegations of malpractice, with a re-examination scheduled for June 21.
Officials said the case involves a complex network of students, coaching operators, and intermediaries allegedly facilitating access to leaked exam material in exchange for money.
