NEET-UG Paper Leak Case: Court extends Shubham Khairnar’s Judicial custody till June 15

A Delhi court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Shubham Khairnar, one of the key accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, till June 15. The order comes as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its probe into the alleged leak of the national medical entrance examination paper.
Khairnar was produced before the court after the expiry of his earlier judicial custody, which had been granted till June 6. Investigators have been examining his alleged role in the paper leak network and its possible links to a wider interstate conspiracy surrounding the examination.
The NEET-UG 2026 controversy erupted after allegations surfaced that the question paper had been leaked before the examination, prompting a nationwide investigation. The CBI has since taken over the case and is probing the involvement of multiple individuals suspected of facilitating the leak and distributing exam material for monetary gains.
According to investigators, Khairnar is considered an important figure in the case, with agencies seeking to uncover the larger network behind the alleged malpractice. Authorities have carried out arrests and interrogations across multiple states as part of efforts to trace the origin and circulation of the leaked paper.
The paper leak controversy led to the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 and triggered widespread concerns over the integrity of competitive examinations. Meanwhile, authorities have announced stronger security measures and reforms aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
