Mumbai boy Avik wins Rs 1 lakh, Disneyland trip in SBI Life Spell Bee 15th edition

SBI Life Spell Bee, one of India’s longest-running spelling competitions, concluded its grand finale, marking the successful culmination of its 15th edition in association with Mirchi. Eleven-year-old Avik Agrawal from Bombay Scottish School, Powai, Mumbai, emerged as the winner after a gruelling contest that drew over 1.25 lakh students from 300 schools nationwide. He clinched the prestigious ‘Spell Master of India’ title.
Hosted by actor, fashion designer and TV presenter Mandira Bedi, the finale featured an intense face-off among top young spellers who advanced through rounds testing spelling accuracy, vocabulary and presence of mind. Kushagra Pandey, 13, from The Millennium School, Lucknow, finished first runner-up, while Jasmine Jonwal, 13, from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, took second runner-up. All finalists showcased strong language skills and consistency.
Avik received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and an all-expenses-paid trip to Disneyland, Hong Kong. This year’s edition revolved around the theme ‘Bee Spellionaire’, positioning knowledge and language skills as long-term assets for young learners. It highlighted how spelling and vocabulary build confidence, clarity of expression and critical thinking. Through this initiative, SBI Life provides platforms that encourage learning beyond classrooms and foster holistic development among future leaders.
