Monsoon set to return to Delhi; Heavy rain alert issued for Himalayan states

The southwest monsoon is set to become active over Delhi once again, bringing relief from hot and humid conditions, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several Himalayan states over the next few days.
According to the IMD, Delhi is likely to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms as monsoon activity revives over northwest India. The change in weather is expected to reduce temperatures and provide respite after days of sultry conditions.
Meanwhile, the weather department has issued warnings of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The persistent rain is expected to increase the risk of flash floods, landslides and disruption to road connectivity in hilly regions.
The alert comes amid widespread rain-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where flash floods and landslides have already claimed several lives and triggered large-scale rescue operations in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
The IMD has advised residents and travellers in vulnerable areas to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and follow updates issued by local authorities. Authorities have also urged people living in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to take necessary precautions.
