Noida Airport faces slower ramp-up amid Geopolitical uncertainty, says Operator

Noida International Airport is expected to see a slower ramp-up in operations amid a challenging geopolitical environment, with its near-term performance likely to remain uncertain, according to operator Zurich Airport International AG.

The airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, began commercial operations on June 15. It handled 1,044 flights and around 77,000 passengers in July, compared with 204 flights and 25,000 passengers in June.

In its investor presentation for the first half of 2026, Zurich Airport International said the airport’s initial growth could be affected by the prevailing geopolitical situation.

“Slower ramp-up expected due to challenging geopolitical environment, with near-term performance remaining subject to elevated uncertainty,” the company said.

Despite the near-term challenges, the operator said it remains confident about the airport’s long-term prospects. It expects the route network to expand further, with international flights also likely to be introduced.

The company described India’s aviation market as having strong long-term growth potential and attractive fundamentals.

During the first half of 2026, Noida International Airport recorded revenue of CHF 2.5 million, while operating expenses stood at CHF 4.9 million. The airport reported a loss of CHF 2.4 million before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation during the period.

The airport has an initial annual capacity of 12 million passengers, with investment in its first phase estimated at CHF 750 million.

Zurich Airport International said the project will establish a new aviation gateway for North India.

Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International, operates Noida International Airport.
