MDMK’s Vaiko confident of DMK alliance victory in TN polls

MDMK founder Vaiko on Friday expressed absolute confidence in the victory of the DMK-led coalition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Elections to 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu were held on April 23, and the results will be declared on May 4.
“My belief is that the DMK will form a Government. The DMK alliance will gain the majority,” Vaiko said. Speaking to reporters on the occasion of May Day, the veteran leader dismissed varying exit poll projections, asserting that the ground reality would favour the incumbent alliance when results are declared on May 4.
Vaiko noted that while a majority of opinion polls indicate that the DMK will return to power, some surveys have suggested favourable outcomes for the AIADMK or the TVK. He maintained that such projections remain speculative until the formal counting of votes.
The MDMK chief also utilised the occasion to launch a scathing attack on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government.
He accused the administration of acting as a representative of industrial capitalists and actively crushing labour rights.
Highlighting the history of May Day, he recalled his 1990 intervention in the Rajya Sabha, where he successfully petitioned then Prime Minister VP Singh to declare May 1 a Central Government holiday.
Vaiko emphasised that his party would remain at the forefront of the struggle for workers’ welfare.
Responding to queries about a perceived public desire for political change in the State, Vaiko remarked that any such conclusions could only be drawn after the final election results are announced.
He reiterated his stance, stating that the DMK alliance remains the definitive choice for the majority of the electorate.
