LIC hands over Rs 12,207.25 crore dividend cheque to Government

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Wednesday handed over a dividend cheque of Rs 12,207.25 crore to the Government of India as its share of the dividend approved by shareholders at the corporation’s Annual General Meeting held on July 27, 2026.
The cheque was presented by R Doraiswamy, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of LIC, to Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The presentation ceremony was attended by Sanjay Lohiya, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, along with senior LIC officials, including Managing Directors Ratnakar Patnaik and R Chander, and NS Raghava, Zonal Manager (In-Charge), Northern Zone.
LIC said it is completing 70 years since its incorporation. As of March 31, 2026, the corporation had an asset base of Rs 59.03 lakh crore and continues to maintain its position as the market leader in the Indian life insurance sector.
