Leaders offer condolences on Ajit Pawar’s death

Precise grip on administration: Raj Thackeray
Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray on Wednesday said that in the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the State has lost an outstanding leader with a precise grip on the administration, and someone who was remarkably straightforward and free of caste bias.
Pawar (66) and four other persons were killed after an aircraft carrying them crashed near Baramati in Pune district of Maharashtra on Wednesday morning. He was traveling to his hometown, Baramati from Mumbai to address public meetings.
In a post on X, Thackeray said, “My friend and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has passed away. Maharashtra’s politics has lost an outstanding leader.”
He said Pawar and he entered politics around the same time. But on the strength of his sheer passion for politics, Pawar took great strides in Maharashtra’s political arena.
Ajit's contribution not forgotten: Patel
Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday said the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash was heartbreaking, and added that his contribution to Maharashtra’s development will always be remembered.
“The news of the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Baramati is extremely sad and heartbreaking. In this time of grief, I express my deepest condolences to his family and supporters. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this unbearable loss,” Patel said in a social media post.
“His contribution to the development and welfare of Maharashtra will always be remembered,” he said.
Condolences over Pawar’s tragic demise poured in from various leaders in Gujarat, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) cancelling a scheduled programme of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The Gujarat cabinet also expressed condolences over Pawar’s untimely death, Government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani said.
Congress leader Amit Chavda described the Maharashtra deputy CM’s death as tragic.
“May God grant peace to his soul and give strength to his family in this difficult time. Om Shanti,” he said in a post.
AAP’s Gujarat unit president Isudan Gadhvi said on the social media platform, “The news of the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and others in a plane crash in Baramati, Maharashtra, is extremely unfortunate. May God grant peace to the souls of the deceased and give strength to their families and well-wishers to bear this grief.”
AAP said in a statement that Mann’s programme was cancelled for the day.
Mann, who is in Gujarat, was scheduled to address a press conference to talk about various welfare schemes implemented by his Government in Punjab.
Vaghani told media persons that the State cabinet met and expressed grief over Pawar’s death.
“The State Government expresses its grief. May God give strength to his family to bear this loss,” he said.
All the ministers expressed grief during the cabinet meeting, Vaghani said, adding that the entire State is in mourning over his untimely death.
CM Saini, Mann condole demise of Ajit Pawar in plane crash

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his Haryana counterpart Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday condoled the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. In a social media post, Mann said, “Reports have emerged of an accident involving the aircraft carrying Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during landing in Baramati, Maharashtra.”
“The images of smoke and destruction are deeply distressing,” he added.
Tragic loss for politics: Andhra CM Naidu
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday expressed condolences over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash and passed a resolution mourning the tragic loss.
“The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet expressed deep condolences over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash and adopted a resolution mourning the tragic loss,” said an official at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu mentioned the plane crash incident, recalled his acquaintance with Pawar, and said he was deeply shocked by his death while travelling from Mumbai to Baramati. The Cabinet expressed grief over the death of Pawar, along with five others in the accident, with the Chief Minister remarking that his demise was an irreparable loss to Maharashtra politics.
Ajit had firm grip on administration: Mohol
Pune: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Wednesday condoled the death of Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar in an air crash, saying that the politics of the State as well as Pune district would remain incomplete without him. Mohol and Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu arrived in Pune from Delhi following the air crash.
