Lawrence Bishnoi associate arrested at Delhi airport after deportation from Canada
A close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was arrested at Delhi's IGI Airport after being deported from Canada, Punjab Police said on Tuesday.
Karamveer Singh was taken into custody by the Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), with the arrest being described as a significant breakthrough in the fight against transnational organised crime.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said Singh had allegedly provided logistical assistance and a hideout to Anmol Bishnoi in the US. Anmol Bishnoi is the younger brother of Lawrence Bishnoi.
"Karamveer Singh had provided logistical support and a hideout to Anmol Bishnoi in the #USA. He was wanted in FIR registered at PS (police station) State Crime, SAS Nagar, under relevant sections of the IPC, Arms Act and Passport Act. A Look Out Circular (LOC) was initiated by AGTF Punjab on 03.09.2026," Yadav said in a post on X.
According to the DGP, Singh has a criminal history involving cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion, offences under the Arms Act and other criminal activities.
Yadav said the investigation would continue to establish the extent of Singh's wider criminal network and activities.
He added that the Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling gangster networks and ensuring that wanted criminals are brought to justice regardless of where they operate. (with inputs from PTI)
