Bihar CM Choudhary transfers Rs 579 crore flood relief to 8.27 lakh families

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday transferred Rs 579.23 crore as relief assistance to the bank accounts of 8.27 lakh flood-affected families in the state.
Each affected family received Rs 7,000 under the relief assistance scheme, officials said.
The funds were transferred during an event in Patna for flood-affected families across 15 districts, they said.
According to a statement issued by the Disaster Management Department, around 49.72 lakh people have been affected by floods, with several rivers continuing to swell following torrential rainfall over the past two to three days.
Choudhary also directed the district magistrates of the affected districts to prepare detailed reports on the damage caused by the floods ahead of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's visit on Wednesday.
A central team led by Chouhan will visit Bihar to assess the flood situation.
The chief minister reiterated that the state government was making continuous efforts to find a permanent solution to the recurring flood problem in Bihar. (with inputs from PTI)
