Maharashtra: Latur farmer dies by suicide on 44th birthday
A 44-year-old farmer died by suicide at his agricultural field in Maharashtra's Latur district on Sunday, the day of his birthday, police said.
Vilas Subhash Kurhade, a resident of Renapur, left his home in the morning and told his family that he was heading to his farm.
Police said Kurhade's body was later found hanging from a mango tree in his field, located around three kilometres from Renapur.
His family told police that Kurhade had turned 44 on Sunday.
The reason behind his death has not yet been established, police said. An Accidental Death Report has been registered at Renapur police station.
Parts of Latur have been declared drought-affected by the Maharashtra government following inadequate rainfall during the monsoon. (with inputs from PTI)
