Jharkhand CID arrests 16th accused in JSSC-CGL exam irregularities case
The Jharkhand CID has arrested another person in connection with alleged irregularities in the 2023 JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination, an official said on Friday.
The accused, Manu Kumar Singh, is a resident of Devaria in Bihar's Saran district.
According to the official, Singh allegedly helped several candidates gain unfair advantages during the JSSC-CGL examination, with some of them later clearing the test.
With Singh's arrest, the number of people apprehended by the CID in connection with the alleged examination irregularities has risen to 16.
The agency has also taken two accused, Kundan Kumar and Samir Kumar, who are in judicial custody, on remand.
Job aspirants had launched protests from July 25, seeking cancellation of examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), along with a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities.
Following the protests, the state government on August 18 announced the cancellation of several recruitment examinations, including the JSSC-CGL-2023. The aspirants later called off their agitation.
The Jharkhand High Court, however, subsequently stayed the government's decision after candidates who had cleared the examination approached the court. (with inputs from PTI)
