Three held for alleged sexual assault of minor girl in Thiruvananthapuram
Three people, including a minor boy, were taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl at Mananthala here, police said on Friday.
According to police, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by the three accused at a house in Mananthala a few months ago.
The alleged assault came to light after the girl disclosed the incident during a counselling session. Her parents subsequently approached the police, officials said.
Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and recently recorded the girl's statement before a magistrate.
The three accused, including the minor boy, were later taken into custody.
The two adult accused were remanded in judicial custody, while the child in conflict with law will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, officials said. (with inputs from PTI)
