EAM S. Jaishankar praises Indian medical teams in Venezuela under operation Amistad

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar praised Indian doctors and medical professionals serving in earthquake-hit Venezuela under Operation Amistad on the occasion of National Doctors' Day. In a message posted on social media, he thanked the medical teams for their dedication and humanitarian service while carrying out challenging relief operations in the disaster-affected country.
Jaishankar extended his best wishes to doctors across India, while giving special recognition to the Indian Army medical contingent deployed in Venezuela.
The team has been providing emergency medical care through a field hospital established as part of India's humanitarian assistance mission following the devastating earthquakes that struck the South American nation. Operation Amistad, meaning "friendship" in Spanish, reflects India's commitment to supporting countries affected by natural disasters.

India launched Operation Amistad within days of the earthquake, dispatching two Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft carrying a 41-member Army medical team, relief supplies, medicines and medical equipment. The mission has received appreciation from Venezuelan authorities and local residents, highlighting India's growing role as a first responder in global humanitarian crises.
