EAM Jaishankar greets Somalia on National Day, reaffirms strong bilateral ties

India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, extended warm greetings to Somalia's Foreign Minister, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, and the people of Somalia on the occasion of the country's National Day. In his message, Jaishankar conveyed his best wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued progress for Somalia while reaffirming India's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
The exchange reflects the growing diplomatic engagement between India and Somalia in recent years.
The two countries have expanded cooperation in areas such as development partnerships, capacity building, maritime security, and multilateral forums. India has consistently supported Somalia through humanitarian assistance, education initiatives, and institution-building efforts.

Somalia celebrates its National Day on July 1, marking the union of British Somaliland and the Trust Territory of Somaliland in 1960, which led to the formation of the Republic of Somalia. Jaishankar's message underscores India's continued support for closer ties with African nations and its broader engagement with the Global South.
