ITBP officials Honoured on R-Day

On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, 15 personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were conferred with prestigious service medals for their distinguished and meritorious contributions to the nation. The honours list, announced on the eve of the celebrations, included three President’s Medals for Distinguished Service and 12 Medals for Meritorious Service, recognising the “Himveers” for their steadfast devotion to duty along the country’s arduous frontiers.
The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service was awarded to Om Prakash Yadav, Inspector General (GD); Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Deputy Inspector General (GD); and Gireesh Chandra Patni, Assistant Commandant (SO). These senior officers were recognised for their long-standing record of exceptional leadership and service within the elite mountain-trained force.
The Medal for Meritorious Service was presented to a broad spectrum of officials, including Vijay Kumar Deswal, DIG (GD); Tashi Namgyal, Commandant (GD); Subhash Chandra Yadav, Commandant (GD); and Deonath Ray, Commandant (GD). The honours further acknowledged the vital roles played by Assistant Commandants Dwarika Prasad Dhoundiyal (SO), Kailash Chandra Dhoundiyal (O), and Joginder Kumar (SO).
The list of recipients for the meritorious category also featured Chhering Dorje, Inspector (CM); Rajender Bikram Sen, Inspector (GD); Ram Kumar, Sub-Inspector (GD); Vijay Kumar, Sub-Inspector (PNR); and Prasannan PS, Assistant Sub-Inspector (Medic). The Director General of the ITBP and the entire force family extended their heartfelt congratulations to the awardees for upholding the highest traditions of the force on this landmark anniversary of the Republic.
