Iran sends fresh proposal to US

Iran has submitted a new proposal for negotiations with the United States through Pakistan-based mediators, according to the State-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). The move signals a potential opening in efforts to break the ongoing deadlock between Tehran and Washington, even as regional tensions continue to rise.
Global energy markets reacted quickly to the development. Oil prices, which had surged following disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, declined after the news broke, as reported by Reuters.
The waterway-responsible for transporting roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas-has been at the centre of the crisis. Its effective closure by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has rattled global markets, with the International Energy Agency calling the situation one of the worst energy crises in history.
It remains unclear whether Pakistani intermediaries have formally conveyed Tehran’s latest proposal to Washington.
The proposal follows earlier failed negotiations in Islamabad on April 11-12, which ended without agreement after more than 21 hours of talks. Both sides blamed each other: Washington said Tehran rejected its terms, while Tehran accused the US of making excessive demands.
