Inter-school crossword: Bihar teams sweep first three positions in Phase I

The end of Phase I of the three-phase annual national inter-school CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest has seen Bihar teams scripting a rare achievement, cornering the first three positions on the national leaderboard.
While Nanya Dev Singh and Hemang Chandra playing as a team from DPS Patna are at the top of the national chart, Dhairya Pandey, playing solo for Don BoscoAcademy, Patna, and the team comprising SudhanshuNayak and Shubhi Srivastava from Darbhanga Public School have, respectively, clinched the 2nd and the 3rdspots.
As many as 13 teams from schools across India have topped their respective states. While many of the teams have consistently done well in all three online rounds in Phase I, there are a few surprises too in the final ranking.
Amritha Unnikrishnan playing for DPS Coimbatore; Vaishnavi Nayak of Holy Cross School, Darbhanga; Soumyajit Ghosh of Vision International School, Hooghly; Tanishka Sumbly of Heritage School, Jammu; and Depjit Boraik of Lengree Tea Estate Model School, Karbi Anglong, have, respectively, topped Tamil Nadu, Bihar, West Bengal, J&K, and Assam even as they played as single-member teams.
Among the other state toppers are Anjali Nanduri and Aradhya Ranjith of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Vidyashram, Hyderabad (Telangana); AvaniFiske and Mudraa Paidarkar of SES Gurukul, Pune(Maharashtra); Anhad Kaur and Divya Dhiman of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana (Punjab); Deev Pandey and Aditi Matta of DPS Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh); Aashna Khanna and Nora Tuda of The Mother’s International School (Delhi); Urvi Dev and Samara Aurora of National Public School, Koramangla, Bengaluru (Karnataka); Chetan and Mayukh of Narayana Junior College, Krishna (Andhra Pradesh); and Bhavika Goyal and Prasiddhi Arya of DAV Public School, Dehradun (Uttarakhand).
As many as 51 school teams have also topped their respective city merit lists.
