India's first private orbital rocket set to make history with tech payloads and PM Modi's space-bound postcard

India is set to achieve a major milestone in its space journey as Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace prepares to launch Vikram-1, the country's first privately developed orbital rocket. The launch, under Mission Aagaman, will take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and marks the first time an Indian private company will attempt to place payloads into Low Earth Orbit.

The rocket will carry several technology demonstration payloads from Indian and international customers, showcasing innovations in space technology. Among the most symbolic payloads is a handwritten postcard by Prime Minister Narendra Modi bearing the message "Vande Mataram", along with postcards from scientists, engineers and astronauts, celebrating India's growing ambitions in space exploration.

The mission is expected to strengthen India's private space ecosystem and highlight the increasing role of startups in the country's expanding commercial space sector. If successful, Vikram-1 will open new opportunities for affordable satellite launches and position India as a stronger player in the global space industry.
