Indian Army organises ex-servicemen rally at Bishnupur

As part of its continued commitment towards the welfare and well-being of veterans, the Indian Army organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally 2026 at the Maj L Jyotin Football Ground in Bishnupur district of Manipur, on 07 January 2026 to provide a comprehensive outreach platform for ESM and Veer Naris of the region.
Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, GOC Spear Corps was the chief guest. Veterans, Veer Naris, war widows and their families graced the event with their presence. Lt Gen KH Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), the senior-most veteran, also attended alongside other veterans, including Col Gopendra Puyam (Retd), Secretary, Rajya Sainik Board, adding prestige to the event. ESM Achievers, Lt Col TB Singh and Sub Maj (Hony Capt) S Maniyai were felicitated by GOC, Spear Corps for their contribution towards the Ex-Servicemen community in Manipur and society upliftment endeavors.
The rally, themed “Veterans: The Nation’s Everlasting Pride”, offered a single-window platform to address grievances, access welfare and administrative services, and strengthen the bond between the Army and its veterans. The structured programme included interaction sessions with senior officers, cultural performances by Manipuri artists, community engagement activities and the felicitations.
A wide range of facilities were made available, including Grievance Redressal, Medical Camp, SPARSH and ECHS assistance, Rajya and Zila Sainik Board desks, PCDA Guwahati, ARO, CSD services and support from leading banks such as SBI, ICICI, PNB and AXIS Bank. The Postal Department, Super 50 Information Counter and Pramerica Defence Insurance Services were also part of the rally.
Stalls by the Cosmetic Centre, Phubala and the Yarn Bank, Tronglaobi, drew significant interest from the attendees.Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris from across the region participated actively and availed themselves of the facilities provided. The successful conduct of the rally underscored the Indian Army’s unwavering respect for its veterans and its continued commitment to honour their service, sacrifice and lifelong contribution to the nation.
