India recognized for running World's Largest Healthcare Programme, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has earned global recognition for operating the world's largest healthcare programme, highlighting the government's efforts to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for millions of citizens across the country.
Speaking at a public event, the Prime Minister pointed to the success of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), which provides health insurance coverage and medical treatment support to millions of beneficiaries.
He stated that the scheme has significantly reduced the financial burden of healthcare on poor and vulnerable families.
Modi emphasized that India's healthcare sector has witnessed major improvements over the past decade through expanded medical infrastructure, new hospitals, medical colleges, digital health initiatives, and increased access to healthcare services in rural and urban areas alike. He said these efforts have helped strengthen the country's healthcare system and improve public health outcomes.
The Prime Minister also noted that Ayushman Bharat covers hundreds of millions of people and is widely regarded as one of the largest government-funded healthcare initiatives in the world.
The programme aims to provide cashless treatment and financial protection for eligible families facing serious medical expenses.
He reiterated the government's commitment to achieving better healthcare access for all citizens and making India a global example of inclusive healthcare development.
