India issues travel advisory for Iran, Israel amid rising tensions

India on Monday urged its citizens in Israel and Iran to exercise utmost caution, remain vigilant, and avoid all non-essential travel amid the deteriorating security situation in the region following a fresh exchange of hostilities between the two countries.
The advisory comes after Iran launched dozens of missiles toward Israel on Sunday evening in response to Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Following the Iranian attack, Israel reportedly carried out retaliatory strikes targeting central and western Iran, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
In a statement posted on X, the Embassy of India in Iran reiterated its earlier advisory, urging Indian nationals to refrain from travelling to Iran under the current circumstances.
“In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian nationals to avoid any travel to Iran,” the mission said.
The embassy also advised Indians currently residing in Iran to leave the country using available means of transport at the earliest opportunity.
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv issued a similar advisory, calling on Indian nationals in Israel to strictly follow safety guidelines and instructions issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.
“In view of the prevailing security situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to exercise utmost caution and remain vigilant at all times,” the embassy said.
The mission further urged Indian citizens to remain close to designated shelters and familiarise themselves with the nearest protected spaces near their homes or workplaces. Indians were also advised to avoid all non-essential travel within Israel until further notice and to closely monitor local news, official announcements, and emergency alerts.
The Indian community in Israel has grown significantly in recent years, with more than 40,000 Indians currently residing across the country. According to official data, approximately 9,000 Indians, including students, were present in Iran when the conflict began on February 28. So far, more than 1,800 Indian nationals have returned home.
To assist citizens in Israel, the Indian Embassy has activated a 24x7 emergency helpline. The mission said it remains in close contact with relevant authorities and will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
“The Embassy remains closely engaged with the relevant authorities and will continue to issue updates as necessary,” the Indian mission in Tel Aviv said.
