ICAI sets Guinness World Record for conducting largest career advice lesson
In a unique achievement, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) - the prestigious accounting body — has achieved a Guinness World Record (GWR) for conducting the “largest careers advice lesson” in history.
The ICAI achieved the landmark feat on Thursday during the “Career in Accounting and Finance for Youth (CAFY 4.0) and Super Mega Career Counselling Programme – Bhavishya Ki Raah”, at the NESCO grounds at Goregaon in north Mumbai.
The record-making event in the country’s commercial capital drew a spectacular turnout of more than 7,400 students, teachers, principals, and education leaders, all assembling for a red-letter day of inspiration and guidance.
From this massive turnout of 7,400 students, 6,166 students formed the eligible count for the official world record attempt - a number that easily secured ICAI’s title in the coveted GWR. The GWR adjudicators present on-site validated the achievement and formally felicitated the organisation.
Congratulating the ICAI team on achieving this feat, ICAI President CA Charanjot Singh Nanda said: “Achieving a Guinness World Record for the largest career advice lesson is a proud moment that shows how deeply ICAI values guiding young minds. Reaching over 6,166 students in one session has helped them make informed choices and opened doors to opportunities beyond borders, equipping the next generation with the wisdom, integrity and confidence to shape a stronger future”.
The programme was aimed at equipping students from Class VI to graduation with “structured, accurate and inspiring career guidance in different streams like humanities, science and commerce and emerging disciplines aligned with India’s dynamic economy”.
The students, who attended the programme, were made to understand the difference between a job and a long-term career, explore diverse and emerging opportunities across science, commerce, arts, sports and digital domains.
The event began with an inaugural ceremony graced by ICAI dignitaries and eminent guests from the Government and academia, who emphasized the importance of ethical, informed and future-oriented career choices.
Students participated in focused career guidance sessions on “Choosing the Right Career” and “Guiding Students Towards Purposeful Careers,” which highlighted self-awareness, individual strengths, personal interests and thoughtful decision-making.
Additionally, comprehensive guidance was also provided on opportunities in commerce, the CA course structure, ICAI’s merit-based and cost-effective education ecosystem, the availability of scholarships and the broad spectrum of global career avenues open to Chartered Accountants.
A key attraction of CAFY 4.0 was the coordinated attempt under the theme “Largest careers advice lesson.” ICAI conducted a structured, curriculum-based guidance session for over 6,166 students under one roof at NESCO, with thousands more joining simultaneously from across India.
